Baseball surprisingly is the favorite sport in Nicaragua followed close by soccer, basketball and volleyball are both common sports as well in Nicaragua. The two most popular sports to watch in Nicaragua are cockfighting, and bullfighting. In rural villages cockfighting is where you dig a hole and drop two rosters in, and the winner is the one alive at the end. Bullfighting mostly happens during festivals, and come from spain origins. But in Nicaragua the matador has to get on the bull and ride it, instead of kill the bull. Baseball was brought to Nicaragua in the 1930's by U.S. Marines and soon became more popular than soccer. Another popular sport is fishing because the country boarders two oceans. Soccer has started to gain back popularity among the young generation.
